Optimum Design of a Renewable-Based Integrated Energy System in Autonomous Mode for a Remote Hilly Location in Northeastern India

Integration of a grid with an under-developed remote hilly area faces various technical and geographical challenges. Thus, generation power from renewable resources in off-grid conditions has become one the most cost-effective reliable solutions for such areas. The present research deals possible application integrated solar/hydro/biomass/battery-based system to generate autonomous mode town northeastern Indian state. Four different cases energy (IES) were designed using hybrid optimization model electric (HOMER Pro), examining performance each case. best combination was chosen out several depending upon optimized solution that can meet load demand proposed sustainably, reliably continuously. simulation results show battery/biomass/hydro/solar-based is optimized, cheapest suitable renewable-based specified location, having lowest net cost (NPC) USD 644,183.70 levelized (COE) 0.1282 USD/kWh. Further, result also indicates configuration reduces emission CO2 gas environment compared battery/biomass/hydro worst rate. A sensitivity study carried variation load, hydro stream flow solar irradiation, respectively may largely affect as well economical aspect system.
